This is Leetah. She too, is from The World of Two Moons from "ElfQuest". She was my second completed OOAK project.

She is a Sun Villager (and Nightfall's best friend), who lives in the desert village of Sorrow's End. She is a healer, and the daughter of Sun Toucher, one of the prominent elves in the community. She is very valued by the community because of her powers. Since they came to fruition, no one had died of illness or injury.

I actually over-rooted her hair when I re-rooted her, but that's OKAY, because in the comic, she pretty much has a veritable cloud of hair anyway.

She, like Nightfall, was a My Scene doll in her previous life, only it was a Madison. Her jewelry is made using the same round wire I used for Nightfall. The "teeth" of her necklace were painstakingly made using white Sculpey clay (the same clay I used to make the teeth as part of my San costume). I sculpted those teeth (several of them, because you never know when you might want/need more 1/6 scale teeth for an OOAK project) and made the holes BEFORE putting them in the oven to fire, using the TINY wire I used to attach the teeth to her necklace (I tried thread first, but that didn't work, so I figured, "I'll just go get the thinnest wire I can find, and see where that takes me.").

It took me awhile to find the right shade of blue fabric, and the RIGHT KIND of fabric (if you use fabric that's too stiff or flimsy or the wrong texture, you not only have a fight on your hands, it'll probably look "off"), but somehow, I think choice ended up looking alright. I made the top first, because I figured it would be the most challenging thing to make due to its design and edging.

Her top is the result of a good evening's work the Thanksgiving of 2009. I drafted the pattern using the tissue paper and masking tape method. The front of her top isn't actually two separate pieces; it's just that I sewed the gold cord on that way to mimic the look of the way it is in the book.

I attached the cord to the red satin top by hand, using a single strand out of a piece of metallic gold embroidery thread.

The gold fringe and lining on her skirt is the result of another evening of trial and error (And thankfully little error!). I pinned each and every piece of gold ribbon under the gold lining (which is border tape) and sewed it to the skirt. I left the ribbons fairly long, so I could cut them down to the length I wanted and then secure then ends with a little fray-check.

I used a fabric pen to copy the black rectangular pattern from the comics. Unfortunately, it didn't show up enough, so I took a big dare, and used my 20/0 liner brush and some black acrylic paint to go over the drawings. It seemed to work.

The skirt itself is a modified version of a skirt I took apart, which went on a TNT ("twist 'n' turn" - what you call the earlier versions of dolls without a belly button) waist. I traced the outline, further away from the actual shape, cut out the pieces, and fitted them to her before I did any of the border and fringe.

Her gold hair ornament is made of gold fabric to match her skirt and top border with the same pattern (you probably can't see it in this picture...).

Lastly, her boots are made from a non-ravel cloth material. I tried to copy the sun pattern from the book, using acrylic paint (puff paint didn't seem to work), and like most pairs I do, one looks better than the other.
